I felt physically sick just before the penalties were taken but I'm so glad I braved it and carried on watching!

I'm always giggling at the names of sportsmen. I turned to my long-suffering better half during the match last night and told him that Stones had a sister in the crowd - name of Cherry.

And a cousin called Kidney.

But my favourite giggling-inducing name has to be the Russian cyclist, Vladimir Karpets.

I had a friend in college who was a scrapper, not afraid of anyone, and his nickname was stones.
