    Geminids

Anyone else gazing skyward at the Geminid meteor shower? I know the peak was last night, but it was raining here so no good. Clear skies tonight, and in the half hour I braved before frostnip sent me back indoors I managed to spot 7, including one spectacularly green one.

I'll be keeping an eye out for stragglers tonight.

One of these days, I intend to mount a bunch of rare earth magnets above the ground (on sticks, or perhaps a net) during a major shower, and see if I can't collect some nickel-iron micrometeorites.

Saw on the local evening news that a bright, low flying "rouge meteor" was sighted over Denver last night (Thursday the 14th) as early as eight-thirty p.m. Caused a stir among witnesses.
