Possibly you could take a look at the murder of actor Weldon Atherston in Battersea, which is still officially unsolved. His murder occurred the week the police were seeking Crippen in London. Atherston had once been on the same bill with Cora Crippen doing performances during an actor's strike.

Interesting. Perhaps Crippen thought Cora and Atherton were having an affair?

Atherstone was shot while hiding in the bushes outside of the house of an ex-girlfriend. One of his sons was in the house of the ex-girlfriend at the time and was a suspect. The son ended up fleeing the country and was never charged in the case.
