  • RIP Adam West

RIP Adam West. The utility belt is finally empty.

Actor Adam West who portrayed Batman in the classic 1960s television series, died Friday night in Los Angeles. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends after a battle with leukemia.

Have just been reading the news of his passing. "Batman!" was one of my favorite TV shows when I was a little girl, and I had never even read any of the comic books at that time. (It was only decades later that I began to read Batman graphic novels and learn about the history of the character.)

RIP, sir. You brought a lot of happiness to children and adults, and lived your life well.

One of my favourite moments :

Batman and the Penguin compete for Mayor of Gotham City.

R.I.P Adam West. Where are all the heroes going? First James Bond now Batman.
I hope that he takes his trusty can of shark repellant spray with him.

Quite funny in the long run - he knew how to adjust to a comic turn in his post-Batman years. He also had a long standing role as the crooked mayor (named "Adam West") on "Family Guy". He will be missed.

Are you saying the 1960s Batman wasn't a comedy?

It was part-spoof (more so than the 1950s predecessor series, "Superman" with George Reeves), as the show was campy. But West was playing his role seriously for quite on the show, until he got into the spoofing. His later career showed he'd developed good timing.

I think I am correct in saying that only 5 actors from the entire tv series are still alive.. including Burt Ward (Robin) and the 2nd series Riddler.
Most nearly all of the others..heroes or villains.. have passed away, sadly.

                          RIP Mr. West.

                          Legend indeed.
