From the article: "A federal law enforcement official, who is not authorized to comment publicly on the case, identified the suspect as 26-year-old Esteban Santiago. Sen. Bill Nelson, a Florida Democrat, said earlier that the gunman was carrying a military ID in that name."

So sad the state of the world, thoughts are with those impacted by it.

He apparently had mental health issues. Supposedly he went to the FBI shortly before leaving Alaska and claimed he was being forced to watch ISIS videos by something that was controlling his mind. They gave him numbers to mental services.

I don't understand why a 26 year old man of Puerto Rican extraction would fly from Alaska to Florida with a handgun in his checked baggage, just to do a mass murder. The lucky thing is he only had the one gun, and surrendered when he was out of bullets.
