Anyone heard of the attacking of a Mrs T.Smith in 1887?

She was walking home one night and was attacked by a broom handle by an unknown assailant. She was hit round the head three times before another man interrupted the brutal scene. The assailant ran away and Mrs Smith was taken to the closest infirmary.

I was just wondering whether anyone knew anything else or even heard about the case before? What happened to her?

I remember reading ages ago in either Casebook or the JTRF about a 'pre JTR murders' woman being attacked before Fairy Fay and the others. I can't remember what her name was, but as far as believe she was regarded as a respectable married local woman who went out to look for her husband who was returning from work very late and, without provocation, was attacked. She was rescued as you say, and taken to the infirmary. It wasn't murder and she was discharged from the infirmary but I seem to recall that she did receive a lasting injury, though what it was I can't remember.
