      It is a weird case. Thanks for posting it. If something like that happened nowadays people would probably jump to the conclusion that the 17year old had got caught up in some drug deal gone wrong. In the 1930's, however...?

        There were drugs around in the Thirties, certainly, and a bit of paranoia about what "reefer madness" would do to America's young people. But this kid was tortured to death. I think he had seen violence before, and sort of knew what to expect (and maybe that's why he tried to run away in search of a taxi); maybe "Don" was his pimp?
