The Mushroom Woman was finally sentenced this morning, Sept 8, 3 x Life for the three killings and 1 x 25y for the attepted murder. 33 years non parole.

She's going to have a hard time of it in prison because she's going to be kept in solitary confinement for her own protection for the foreseeable future. She will be confined in her cell for up to 22 hours each day. At present she is permitted to speak to only one other inmate through a grille, and has not so far availed herself of this opportunity. Her considerable inheritance, including her house, is in hock to her defence lawyers.
She has 28 days in which to lodge an appeal. It will be interesting to see if she does.Why a four-year-old child could understand this report! Run out and find me a four-year-old child, I can't make head or tail of it. -
No doubt she will appeal it, but I don't see much prospect of her succeeding.

What I did find intereting was the Leongatha, where it all took place, was also where Arnold Soderman committed 4 murders during the 1930's. he was hanged in 1936. Quite a history for a town of barely 6000 people.
