I hadn't heard that, either; thanks for the explanation, Scorpio. It seems dubious, but they have to investigate everything.

Thanks for keeping a tab on this case.

Nordic ritual defense?? Maybe, I guess the fullness time will help explain what exactly occured and why, but as it stands he's bang to rights. Odsnist defence? Effin' behave, he can pass the buck all he wants, he killed them. Being guilty and finding an excuse for being guilty are different things. We'll see I guess.
I am pretty certain of Richard Allen's guilt, but just how much doubt the defense can raise we will see. The prosecution will rigorously debunk the claims soon enough, but it only takes a few juror's to credit the ritual sacrifice thing and the supposed links to some pagan/right wing cult. Consider other infamous murders and the wild theories that have sprung from them, and the willingness of certain people to believe them.

Richard Allen found guilty. I think it was a fair verdict; I believe Allen was bridge guy, and i believe in the sincerity of his confessions to his wife, and prison psychiatrist.

A day late and a dollar short as far as help goes, he needs keeping away from society, he's bang to rights. Hard to defend his rights, he's entitled to none. Yes, he's mentally unwell, and may well regret his actions, but that doesn't absolve him of his guilt. He needs putting away, wether that's justice for his victims or protection for society at large doesn't matter so much, the world's a better place with him behind bars.
