Hi everyone. I came across a fascinating website I thought I'd share; as the thread title suggests, it deals with "the horrors of pre-anesthetic surgery."
The website is called 'The Chirurgeon's Apprentice' and is operated by (oops, bad pun!) a medical historian at the University of London. "Chirurgeon" is an archaic term for "surgeon".
The site has two years of archived blog posts, a library of suggested works for further reading, and a feature called "Pick The Chirurgeon's Brain" where you can ask any kind of question you want.
(If any of you ask a question, perhaps you'd be so kind as to share the answer with the rest of us? Thanks.)
'The Chirurgeon's Apprentice': http://thechirurgeonsapprentice.com/
Best regards,
