Hi Apricot (or should I say sis),
It would seem that the lady who lived next door to us was exagerating a tad, actually it was me she told, not mum, way back in 1966. (I was cleaning my motorbike in the front garden and she leaned over the fence and asked if we knew of what had happened in the house). The story that she told me was at the end of the 50's a Irish traveller and his 15 year old common law wife had rented the house and after an arguement the 15 year old girl stabbed the bloke in the doorway between the kitchen and dining room.
However, although the neighbour said that the bloke died, in fact I found out several years later that he in fact did not die and the girl was sent to approved school. I found this out from a DS at Ealing nick in 1969, but kept quiet about it as I did not want to ruin a good story that seemed to tie in with some of the weird things that were going on at that house back then.
