Yes, that's really weird. It seems incredibly stupid to use your real last name. Makes me inclined to believe it's not him. In fact, I will be disappointed in this point if they do find out who was D B Cooper. It makes a great mystery.

      DNA Not A Match

      Hello Kidtwist; welcome to Casebook.

The DNA tests on L.D. Cooper are back. As you may have already guessed, his DNA did not match the DNA of the hijacker.

      Best regards,

I'm bumping this thread because I love this story so much.

Also, about the dummy parachute, it was the back up parachute that was a dummy. It was given accidentally, since the police thought he could jump with an hostage.

D B Cooper is an accident of the press. It was the name of one of the suspect that was later cleared. The man purchased his ticket under the Dan Cooper name.

For those who don't know, Dan Cooper is a fictional character, expert pilot and paratrooper for the Canadian Air Force. He is a creation of a Belgian cartoonist, in the same cartooning school than Hergé (Tintin).

The character was unknown to Americans at the time, and only French Canadians read the graphic novel, since it wasn't translated yet.

        Anyway. It's a fascinating story.
