  • Psycopath ?.

Hi, i began a thread called " A very British psychopath " where i discussed a certain criminal from the 1940's and his psychopathic nature. The replies to the thread suggest the psychopathic personality is more widely known than i thought and a number of probable psychopathic personalities nominated by members were suggested. The list looks like this.

    John George Haigh
    Theodore Robert Bundy
    Kenneth Bianchi
    Angelo Buono
    Gordon Cummins
    Peter Kurtin
    Christopher Marlowe
    Patrick MacKay
    Eric Harris
    Severin Klosowski
    George Smith
    Francis Tumblety

I have decided to dedicate a thread to this list, should anybody wish to add to it, but i ask you offer some explanation for your nominee so this thread can expand into the fascinating topic of the psychopathy or sociopathy ( i will be discussing the difference later) in general.

Well i suggested George Smith,he had at least 7 bigamous marriages and killed 3 times. He got his "wives"to steal money for him and then got them to do the jail sentences. He robbed most of his "wives" as well. Then he started drowning women for the insurance money.

Funnily enough he was actually born in the East End,and in trouble by the age of 9.

I think he were a psycopath because his conscience never seemed to trouble him in the slightest and went from one woman to another in very short spaces of time.

In the end he rightfully hung

Hmm, just one reply in 2 weeks? Let's see if we can get this thread going. I mentioned Columbine killer Eric Harris, but am only repeating what author Dave Cullen had to say. Eric and his partner Dylan's private journals tell the story of who they really were. Eric wrote fantastical things about how superior he saw himself to practically the whole world and how he dreamed of doing something bordering on apocalyptic. He also wrote of rape fantasies he had about attacking some younger girl from his school and just tearing her apart like a wolf. Meanwhile, while he was attending counseling after he and Dylan got in trouble for breaking into vehicles and stealing things, he wrote of how easily he was lying to and fooling everyone including his counselors and his authoritarian father, without any trace of conscience. How he managed in death to be portrayed as a bullied kid who finally snapped is amazing. The kid was a habitual liar with homicide running through his veins.

Dylan Klebold's journal, meanwhile, showed him to be depressed and suicidal, easily falling into the role of follower and easily manipulated by his friend Eric.

Why is Tumblety on the list? Is he your prime Ripper suspect?

No he isnt Limehouse. This thread is related to another thread called A VERY BRITISH PSYCHOPATH where i expressed my own views rather better. Frankly, i should not have started a new thread as this one was a bit of a waste of time, but i am new at relatively new at this.

            Hi Julie,
An early definition of a psychopath used to be a "plausible rogue", and a description of their behaviour was that they left a "trail of chaos".
Tumblety was always leaving trails of chaos as he moved around from town to town and country to country. He was a complete conman and charlatan making a fortune from bogus cures for which he had no qualifications. He left one man at least dead.
It is my view that he is a good suspect for JtR but he stood 6ft tall and since nobody was seen who was that tall around the murder sites,I doubt he was JtR.
