My guess is, that he could have been a Swiss common man with a high IQ!

This is a favourite one of mine every since I saw an episode of Leonard Nimoys In Search Of about it.
I think he was very clever no idea who he really was but he ended up in Germany.

I've still got that episode I must try and dig it out and put it on Youtube
