Does anyone else remember the 'Orlando (the Marmalade cat)' books?
(By Katherine Hale maybe?)
I think they stopped getting written before I was born. I used to love them whem I was a (jack the) nipper , but none of my friends believe that they existed.Roll up the lino, Mother. We're raising Behemoth tonight!

Hi Plang!!
Yes!!!!!!!!! It is actually called Whitechapel 1888!!..Amazing isnt it!!...note the little Sickert Ennui on the window frame too!!.......and I guess they're Gulls too! He he!
Hi Dougie-
A 'Calico' is used (mostly in the U.S.) for a tortoiseshell and white cat.A tortoiseshell proper has no white on it.

Well I'm impressed!!!!
Seriously though Linda's is a great pic....wish I'd done it!!!! (and the rest of her stuff is brilliant too and there seems to be cats everywhere!)...Actually it's made me think...AND it's half term next week! Ho Hum..........May have to put pen/brush/crayon to paper methinks!
Wonder how she came to do the Whitechapel 1888 one though?? (especially with the Dids across the shoulder and the mysterious large ginner on the bed?)

Kathleen Hale went on to become an OBE (Hopefully for services to Didskind!) Below pics of the books and in the middle- I think- our Kathleen with her Purring Breathing original Orlando

Hi all-
Recieved a delightful email from Linda Sutton this morning!! The piece which measures 4'x4' in oils, was painted in 1988 as a commemorative piece,it is now owned privately in Southampton.
She sounds a lovely lady and is kindly sending me a copy of the catalogue containing the Whitechapel 1888 painting!!
Great 'eh
