I assume you mean 1888?

As the name 'Jack the Ripper' didn't come into common useage until the publication in October it kinda rules out September.

Unless the letter writer and the wall writer are one in the same, which we feel is highly unlikely.

We can't be sure of the year of the writing. My own personal opinion would be that it was either October or November 1888 with October being the most likely.
