There was the stage play about Winston Churchill being the Ripper that was done in the UK a few years ago. The premise of the production was meant to be humorous, I understand. The future prime minister would have been 13 at the time of the canonical murders, having been born on 30 November 1874. Of course, in the recently peeked at Special Branch files there is the notation about papa Randolph Churchill being a possible Ripper suspect. I wonder how many suspect sightings noted an older man with a handlebar moustache with a lad in short pants in tow? Hmmmm.

There's also the famous photograph of Winston Churchill as Home Secretary at the time of the Siege of Sidney Street on 2 January 1911. Returning to the scene of the crime perhaps?

If I recall properly, the small lad was heard to say to the moustachioed chap,

"we shall rip them on the beaches, we shall rip them on the landing grounds, we shall rip them in the fields and in the streets, we shall rip them in the hills; we shall never stop until we do get buckled." (heh-heh)
