Just read Stewart's interesting article on pounding the beat. In view of the penalty of dismissal consequent upon negligence, I would like to ask him if he feels that Long's and Harvey's dismissals in the same month of the same year could have been a delayed payback for errors they might have committed on the night of Sept 30th - given that it would have been a PR disaster to sack them in 1888.

I left my machine going while I went to town for a few things in anticipation of the 14 inches of snow they have promised for tonight and when I returned--voila! It ws there.

I use dial-up and like Debs I have an ante-deluvian machine, but I did not run into "time out" problems and I believe we have the same provider. Hang in there and the Rip tech team will try to sort it out.

Your "ghost" is an artifact from a template used for part of this issue. But what more appropriate vestige to appear than "Druitt's Ghost" eh?

Never had those problems with the old paper-and-print editions of Ripperologist. You remember, the "real" magazines - the kind you can hold in your hands and leaf through without having to stare at a screen or fiddle with keys - the kind you can read in bed at night, or at the table while you're having lunch . . . like the ones carefully stacked on two shelves of my bookcase, available for re-reading, anywhere, anytime - yep, even when the power goes out (though you might need a candle)! I miss those relics of yesteryear. I wonder how long before hard-copy books are totally replaced by electronic media (shades of "soylent green"!)

As Supe said, the team at Rip will call in the Ghostbusters who will hopefully get rid of Druitt's restless spirit and iron out the other kinks that this massive issue has generated. It did make me smile though that it was that particular title - it couldn't have been more appropriate.
If you haven't been able to download the issue, please be patient and we'll get it to you some other way asap! Then in a weeks time you'll get the rest of issue 100 - hopefully with less problems!

Hold that memory because those so-called "real magazines" are going the way of vinyl records and eight-tracks. In talks with several print medium publishers I have been told that in 10 years--tops--print magazines will be rare indeed.
