As issue 97 of Ripperologist focusses on the events of November 1888, our four-part theme looking at the 120th anniversary of the Autumn of Terror is completed.
Kicking things off in this 113-page edition is Christopher T George, who in his editorial A World Famous Case in a Famous Location takes a look at the recently closed Jack the Ripper and the East End exhibition at the Museum in Docklands.
Start the anniversary issue proper is the indefatigable Chris Scott, who reveals for the first time the results of further research into Mary Kelly in A Family Tale, followed closely by more on Mary in From May Place, Liverpool, to Miller’s Court?
We take a detailed look at the scene of Kelly's murder in Dorset Street Revisited, before the Casebook's own Christer Holmgren examines the credentials of a suspect in the killings in An Affair of the Heart: The Case against Joseph Fleming.
Mary's wounds are examined in detail by Karyo Magellan in the final part of the republished series by Karyo Magellan in Cutthroat, accompanied by a corresponding illustrated look at the mutilations she suffered.
Moving on to other events in November 1888, Stan Russo completes his Suspect Series with a review of the candidacy of Francis Tumblety, and asks whether the quack doctor was Murderer or Means to a Solution. Don Souden then reviews the actions of the Victorian police and asks would modern techniques would have the case Solved in Minutes?
A welcome follow-up to last Andrew Spallek's article in Rip 96 containing seven new photographs of M J Druitt is Chris George's Montie’s Photographer, where he looks at the career of the man behind the camera. And in a welcome item of Ripper fiction Antonio Ruiz Vega reveals The Diary of Jack the Mushroom Hunter.
