So... there will be an article about Jack, or rather about Anderson's Memoirs and the Swanson Marginalia in the January issue of Moms Favourite Reads, a magazine free online (easiest place to find them are on facebook).

Don't get too excited, it's a very light read, and won't cover anything members here wont already know a lot better than I do, but hopefully it will be at the very least, entertaining.

Very good article. At least the author has said what many others have failed to say in that Jack has not been caught.

        Not caught, technically.

Sir Robert Anderson's memoir is too full of porkies to be taken seriously.

            Swanson corroborated him though.

              Hi J6123,

If you believe that, you'll believe anything.

              Regards,

              Simon

But Macnaghten doesnt, and he was Swansons immediate superior !

Hi Busy. But isn't that a wee bit ironic, all things considered?

"...there was no doubt whatever as to the identity of the criminal..." (Sir Robert Anderson, 1920)

Why would the Polish Jew theorists want to express doubt, if their main source expressed none?

True, and this probably should have been alluded to, but, due to the limited length of the article, it was cleaner and neater to stick to those who stated their views, one way or another. But, yes, that is one reason why it was decided the slant should be "why this theory is of interest" rather than a declaration of an absolute "this guy is Jack."

Because Anderson was human, and I chose to remain as objective and balanced as reasonably practicable.

Sir Robert Anderson was human, certainly. The trouble is, he was also a fabulist.

Or, as Oscar Wilde might have said, his memoir is too full of porkies not to be taken seriously.

                              Umm,

Do excuse my impertinence, or perhaps memory loss..
But Sir Robert Anderson died in 1918..so unless he is quoting from his grave, a rather long time after his death, then something is very amiss here.
