1888: London Murders In The Year Of The Ripper

    Has anyone read this book?

    Is it worth a read?

It is a very well written and enjoyable book.

It goes through the year and describes all the murders. It is a good way to get a view of the overall murder situation in the capital - sort of puts JTR more into perspective.

For example you see that vicious throat slitting or mutilations are definitely not common, very much the opposite... despite what some websites/documentaries like to imply.

Many people died as the result of getting into fights and domestic killings.

Yes, I've got the book and its well worth a read. I also agree with Azarna: the book clearly demonstrates that the type of murders that occurred in Whitechapel were extremely rare.
