Are there any interesting memoirs out there of the Victorian period?


In one of the rippercasts they stated about a memoirs of a policeman who worked against radicals (I'm currently re-listening to try and find the name but if anyone knows it then please let me know)

I can't think of any standout memoirs, but there is a book written by Ronald Pearsall called "The Worm in the Bud: The World of Victorian sexuality.
I read it a few years ago and found it very interesting.

You can pick up a second hand copy on Amazon for a reasonable price (link attached).

Are you looking for memoirs by Victorians about the era, as in their autobiographies? Do you need British only, or will Americans do? I'll find some titles for you if you let me know more...

Well initially i was looking for memoirs from the victorian era. But in reality I am a bit of a history nerd and I quite like reading memoirs/diaries so any you think were great or an interesting read (American or english), please by all means post away!

A couple of Gordon Rattray Taylor's books,Sex in History (1954) and Sex in Religion,had interesting insights into the Victorian era.

Would be difficult to find nowadays.

Jack Black, ratcatcher to the Queen, available to read on the internet, I found it fascinating, but perhaps not for everyone.
