Has anyone read his new book "Jack the Ripper: The Scenes of Crime".

Is it one I should put on my Xmas list?

A quick and easy answer is YES. I thought the book was very good, the illustrations especially good and varied. And Rob knows his stuff. It's one of three interesting book to have come along at the end of 2021, there's one on Carrie Brown and another on Deeming.

It's one of my favourites and I've been re-reading prior to going to London.

(Was meant to go two weeks ago, but a positive lateral flow test scuppered it. Rescheduled for jan).

Definitely it’s a great book for the subject matter!! Not much I’ve not seen before but recommended

Paul, have you read The Case Of The Murderous Dr Cream by Dean Jebb yet. It’s one I was considering getting?

I enjoyed it. I'm no authority on Cream, so can't comment on the accuracy, but it was detailed and informative and seemed a solid update on McLaren's book, which seems to have been the standard text for some years. As for Cream's alleged Ripper connection, Jebb doesn't go into it to any degree. You'll have to wait for the A to Z for that (not that I'm shamelessly plugging the A to Z. I wouldn't mention the A to Z to do that. Not my A to Z anyway). But I doubt that you'll be disappointed. I guess it's all down to what's competing for the £1 in your pocket, but I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the info on the Cream book. As a free gift for taking out an insurance policy I’m due a £120 Amazon voucher so I’m compiling a list. The Jebb book is one that I’ve pencilled in.

Too long overdue, but we're getting there. Just lots of information and it's getting harder and harder to keep a grasp on it.

With all the new information and research that each year brings, it must be like trying to put an octopus in a bucket.
