Just to let UK members know that facsimile reprints of this book (& the companion volume Dickens's Dictionary of the Thames) are available from 'The Works', currently priced at £2.99p.
The book is more of a gazetteer than a dictionary, but includes useful stuff like the names of police divisional commanders & the establishment in each rank at the various divisional stations. There is also a list of the Met police fixed points which must have been useful to law-abiding citizens - & equally so to the criminal fraternity.
Regards, Bridewell.
