There wa a programme about People of the Abyss on last week by Dan Cruikshank, it was very good. At the end Dan gets to handle a second edition. Editions with photographs are extremely rare and cost the earth.

The book with photos is available online.

There are several sites, london,sonoma.edu/ writing/people of the abyss
The world of Jack London another one. Just type in his name and the title, loads of stuff comes up.

The edition I've lived with for quite a while is the Joseph Simon reprint published in 1980. It's quite nice, has the original photos, and can often be found for a reasonable price in bookstores or online.

I'd prefer a first edition, but I'm not likely to find one.
