Author John G Bennett.
Ive tried to find the thread for this book but was unsuccessful. If there is one I apologise. If there isnt one Im outraged.
I have a wide collection of books and, due to my busy life, some of them I havent got around to reading. This book was one of them and due to the fact it is also a recent purchase it probably wouldnt have been read till next year. However it grabbed my attention whilst I was browsing through my book shelf Friday and jumped to the top of the pile. Im glad it did.
John describes the book as a labour of love. You can tell. Beautifully constructed, packed with masses of information and topped with excellent photographs.
Jack is not the mainstay here, he pops up ever so quietly throughout the book and this is refreshing. John literally takes you one a journey through 'Ripperland' and provides you with not only the history of the area but a feel for its people as the eras progress.
Anyone wishing to get a a complete feel for the area, from its beginings to today, should buy the book.
A worthy successor to Fishmans masterpieces.
