You are quite right, Graham, the Maybrick's murder case does have its own inherent fascination and I was being sloppy through haste, I am afraid. I should have said that it's matters relating to the "Maybrick diary" which I find personally wearisome in the extreme, although I understand that other people will have equally strong feelings in the opposite direction - contrariness is all part of the rich tapestry of life in Rippertania.

Before we criticize #6 for "Ocmanns razor" should we not at least mention "envoleved, sais(twice), shoud, differnt," and the ultimate pigeon of divine elegance "coo de grace".
The Good Michael mentions that "the spelling, grammar, syntax and punctuation (of the book) are atrocious." I think that may go unnoticed by others who have delivered the coup de gras to my opinion of their literary merits.
Sorry, but when someone asks me for an opinion in that style I would say "Please use spellcheck."
The spelling etc may be atrocious ,but I think Michael Maybrick has always borne closer inspection. I hope someone does it well, as his links to freemasonry(ergo the police), and his relationship to Queen Victoria plus his treatment of Florence make him suspect as a possible fit for JTR, if you believe anything about the diary.Last edited by Ron Beckett; 12-28-2009, 01:28 AM.
