I remember being on very hard times when this first came out, and telling the authors that I would just slag everyone off, and they said slag away 'ere's 250 quid so write what you like. I spent ten minutes on the computer, ten pence on a stamp, and then £249 in the pub that night.
      **** 'em I say.

Who the hell is that A.P. Wolf in there? Never heard of the guy.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

According to Ripperana magazine, he's an Italian sportswoman. I'm not making that up.

Hey, Stan, my agent told me that she would tie me up and beat me to within a inch of my life for signing a deal without giving her the 10% she earns for my work. I do like a dominant woman.
My ethos? Sack the publisher, marry the agent... give up writing, and become a normal human.
And then sling Jack the Ripper books into a Mammoth waste bin which will never be big enough.

The Constable & Robinson website doesn't list the contents of the 2008 book, but it does say that "[t]his volume collects not just all the key factual evidence but also 20 different arguments as to the identity of Jack the Ripper, such as that advanced by Patricia Cornwell". A discussion of Cornwell's theory would obviously incorporate material that postdates the 1999 version, so it must be a new edition. Ergo, gotta have it.

BTW, I don't know if the 2005 book was the first hardcover edition of the 1999 paperback or (because of the change in title and publisher) a brand new edition. In any event, it's a handsome volume, dirt cheap at the time of publication, and well worth having.

                £250 for the article,
                10p for the stamp,
                £249 for a night out,
Does your agent know what happened to the other 90p AP?
                Regards Mike

Where do you find an agent who only wants 10%?

AP wrote a bunch of successful fiction novels under a different name. When you have a lot of money coming in, agents will line up to make 10%.

Hopefully there won't be any woolly thinking from the contributors, or it would be the Woolly Mammoth Book of JTR.

                      I just had to.

Tom, if they had stood in a line I would have gunned 'em down.
And trust me Mike, any surplus geld is spent on good honest booze.
And Tom, I'm doing a three day event next weekend which involves me working 72 hours, and I'm being paid £100 an hour to do that, and pen will not touch paper. I don't even have to speak.
It must be the hand of god.
