      The written record can be found in the Daily Telegraph, 12 Oct. where PC Long was asked:
      Coroner: - How came you to observe the writing on the wall?
      PC Long: - I saw it while trying to discover whether there were any marks of blood about.

      And that is as detailed as it gets, no trail of blood is mentioned.

        with my limited knowledge I recognized some things wrong such as the laughable Charles cross incident.
        a revelation in the documentary.
        so the guy in the program is spicy it up a bit. with the apron,, although they did show it to be a large piece of cloth.

          Not in his first period on the stand, but when he returns after fetching his notebook he clarifies;

          "And you searched every staircase? - Every staircase to the top.
          You found no trace of blood or of recent footmarks? - No."

            I think the claim was a trace of blood existed between the apron & the graffiti, the latter being above the former, not up and around the staircase.

              Sorry, missed off the previous sentence;

              "I want to know what you did the moment you found the piece of apron - I at once searched the staircases leading to the buildings."
