  • I think my movie is cursed by the spirit of Mary Kelly...

No joke. I don't believe in ghosts or anything but the other night I had a nightmare that Mary Kelly (all mutilated) tried to attack me and chased me down some hallway.

Now my movie is slowly losing it's footage when trying to edit it.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but damn.

I am rather pissed that I'm having a very difficult time editing "Scarlett".
    Scarlett (2010) (Completed)

Her spirit is out there. I visited her gravesite at Leytonstone in 2008, an emotional experience in which I spoke to her a bit and wanted her to know that fascination with her killer is not the same as admiration. From there I went on to the City of London Cemetery where Polly and Kate are, where I had an interesting sighting of a red fox creeping around while I was searching for the graves, which I managed to get a picture of. Didn't think much of it at the time, but when I got home and was telling the story someone suggested to me, "So just after your emotional talk with Mary Jane, you have a surprise encounter with a red-haired animal. Hmmm..." Cosmic.

Sounds like an interesting story Kensei. I'm just saying if my film is haunted by Kelly's spirit, is she pissed at the fact that I'm making a movie about her final hours?

Again, I don't really believe in ghosts. But it's just weird.

I wouldn't presume to speak for her as to what she wants, but if you open yourself up you might have a dream in which she tells you herself. Remember "The Sixth Sense?" The little boy who saw dead people finally had to face his fear and, instead of hiding from the ghosts, face them and say, "Do you want to tell me something?"

          It's always Mary Kelly!

I think it's probably just an unfortunate coincidence that your footage is getting screwed up rather than there being a possible paranormal link to it. I mean, unless you're editing the stuff in a place where MJK frequented in life or is known to haunt, I don't see how or why her ghost would [want to] stuff things up for you.

Maybe it's Jack who's eviscerating your footage.

Haha, well like I said. I don't believe in ghost. It's just weird that all my footage is getting corrupted. But we fixed the problem yesterday, so it's all good.

              Hello DarkTaleProductions!

Well, when I was writing my first Ripper story, the printer made such squeaky noise, that I hadn't heard ever before!

But that was only with the first version...

Yes, indeed; this is a true story!

              All the best

                Hi Jukka,

but why blaming MJK's spirit ?
It must be the man Nichols.

                Amitiés,

Glad to hear you got the problem fixed.

But that's a really sucky nightmare. Maybe say a little prayer for her the next time you're in church?

A new problem actually has come to light earlier today. There's a piece of footage which is a key scene is completely gone. We're trying to find it.

                      That's crazy, J.R.

Madam Red, I'm not religious. But we'll see, I guess lol.

If Mary Kelly tries to screw up your movie than why didn't she completely destroy "From Hell" with Heather "Cor Blimey!" Graham?!

                        That would have been justice...

Haha, again. I'm only mad about the footage problem. I don't actually believe the movie is cursed, just put that in there for jokes.

And I actually liked the From Hell movie, it was a great fictional movie. Just wish people didn't believe it. I'm an Alan Moore fan but the graphic novel, the movie is based off of was pretty boring at parts.

Agreed! That was bad casting. I had heard Jude Law was originally cast as Fred Abberline, and then bailed. I can see why. "Cor Blimey" indeed.

I thought the film has great sets, but the film as a whole was not too great in any direction.

I read the novel afterward, and while I was disappointed that Moore purposely chose seemingly every sensationalist theory on the case to construct his plot, I thought his "whatdoneit" angle was interesting.

That being said, I couldn't help but think upon finishing the book, "As interesting as the concept is, this story would make a dreadful film." However, Hollywood sees things differently, and buying the rights to slap the name on a totally separate tale is common practice.
