  • London 1924 in colour

"Beautiful, evocative and moving: This is the earliest known original colour film of London, taken in 1924 - only 5 years after Armistice."

Most remarkable! And the cameraman seems much more interested in the motor traffic than in the remaining horses.

Fantastic. Seeing the past in colour somehow makes it seem less like a different world if that makes sense

        Amazing footage.

Itís moving to see people looking at the tributes at the cenotaph when the Great War only ended 5/6 years earlier. Then you see the young, happy looking kids who have no idea that in 15 years time they will be fighting and possibly dying in another terrible war.

When you look at the crowd scene one of those people could have been Jack The Rippers son or brother or sister. They might have lived next door to him. It would have been great to have been able to speak to them. I bet a few of them would have told you how Granny once bumped into a scary top-hatted figure.

That footage seems to be from this hour long documentary realeased in 1926.
          And filmed between 1924-26
It looks like it’s worth a watch.
