    Thanks Neil

Wouldn't there have been some type of expert in the Bertillon system involved to take measurements etc?

I'll obtain a copy of the book as I often see it referred to on the boards

    Hi Paul,

They kinda had a list of reliable preferred photographers that they called out when required.

I reccomend you read Rob McLaughlin's 'The first Jack the Ripper victims Photographs.

The Met formed their Photographic Department in the November of 1901

An excellent podcast covering many issues of interest

I learnt quite a lot from that

Thanks to Neil Storey and Neil Bell and also to Ally for the production

It was mentioned that at the time of the discovery of the Graffito that the police did not have their photographers

I'd like to ask how the Bertillon system was applied after the arrest of a criminal

Was there a facility to which the person was sent to be analysed?

There appears to be a proliferation of photographs of people such as asylum inmates, was not such a sytem for photographing criminals utilised?

If not present in 1888, when was the photographing of criminals introduced as a common practice?

    Thanks in advance

Hi Ally, yes I certainly did enjoy it...It's also, alas, added a couple more books to my lengthy "to buy" list, but hey what else is the wonga for? (topical comment for right ponders!)

Thanks again and all the best

Thanks in advance to all concerned...

Well my philosophy is, announce it publicly and then they can't refuse. I prefer to presume agreement to my will.

    Rippercast Primer Podcast - Police

It is my very great honor to announce that Mr. Neil Bell and Mr. Neil Storey have agreed to do the primer podcast regarding the methods and members of the police department that were operating in the Whitechapel area at that time. If you have any specific question you would like asked, please PM me prior to Sunday this week so that we can have time to include the information in the podcasts.

Thanks to our listeners and thanks to the Neils.
