  • WS88-A forensic linguistic analysis of the Jack the Ripper letters w Dr Andrea Nini

Dr Andrea Nini is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Linguistics and English Language at the University of Manchester. In 2018, Dr. Nini published An Authorship analysis of the Jack the Ripper letters in Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, in which he analyzed 209 letters and postcards sent to police and newspapers that claimed to have been written by ‘Jack the Ripper’ and concluded that several were journalistic hoaxes, supporting the claims made by Sir Robert Anderson, Melville Macnaughten and Detective Chief Inspector Littlechild.

Also in Apple & Google podcasts, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Stitcher, and wherever fine podcasts about linguistic analysis of the Ripper letters can be found.

JM, thanks for making it available. Sounds interesting. Will have to listen to this.

I often wondered if "Statement Analysis" as used by the modern police, would be reveal anything interesting regarding witness statements. Just thinking aloud.

    Particularly Barnett's!
