I think the track you refere to is called " Jack the Ripper " by the genius who is Morrissey, though cant quite remember what album its from, and I think it came out in the mid 90's.

Thanks SPYGLASS
I've tracked it down now thanks to you and downloaded it from itunes.
The version played on the podcast is from the 1992 'Certain People I Know' single. A live version, sounding pretty different, has appeared on various compilation albums.
The live version of JTR is on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph-vswy2xLA I love how he introduces it ‘There’s something about Whitechapel … not much .. but something’ !
There is also a promo version at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ1BpmuKbBA which kicks off with the victim mortuary pictures and has a few shots which may, or (almost certainly!) may not, be Whitechapel complete with stereotypical swirling fog and ominous silhouette of JTR stalking in cloak & top hat
Ah, but you still ARE a young man. Its a generation thing, believe it or not, as a young man (in my defence, a VERY young man) I remember seeing Screaming Lord Sutch doing his version of 'Jack The Ripper' at the Bristol Corn Exchange - complete with coffins, cape, and fake (I assume!) blood. Good fun and marginally better for a young man than solitary vices.
