  • Few things of interest on iPlayer

I've never quite understood the difference between some of the sub-forums on this site. Do I post this in the forum I have done or in the Visual media forum?

Anyway here's a couple of BBC shows that will interest some of you no doubt. The first has Georgia Brown wandering around the East End. First broadcast in 1968 I found it similar to the James Mason film from 1967 although Lillian Claire Laizer Getel Klot just sticks to the East End unlike Mr. Mason. There's plenty of outside scenes. She doesn't go knocking up the old dear in Hanbury Street though unlike Mr. Mason. There are no references to JTR.

The other sees gentle giant Dan Cruickshank with a bit more hair than he's currently sporting in a show from 1985 on the Georgian houses of Spitalfields.
    Ours to Keep Incomers

I almost forgot this one. I recorded it myself back when it first aired. With the beeb putting up some of their archives, albeit not the stuff most of us really want like all their Saturday Night Theatres, they are now putting up the Michael Portillo series 'Things We Forgot to Remember'. Series 2 Episode 1 from 15 April 2007 was titled 'Jack The Ripper'.

I don't know for certain but I can imagine that if you're not in the UK you need not apply. Unless you can spoof iPlayer with a proxy or VPN. Not that I'd know about such things (cough-cough).
    These are not clues, Fred.
It is not yarn leading us to the dark heart of this place.
They are half-glimpsed imaginings, tangle of shadows.
And you and I floundering at them in the ever vainer hope that we might corral them into meaning when we will not.
    We will not.
