From the cover of the DVD it looks like Steve Pemberton is dressed up wearing the clothing of several Ripper guides - long coat and a trilby. He could be based on Don Rumbelow... he could be based on John Pope...

Oh, maybe not the latter. The character's supposed to be a Ripper historian, isn't he?

As Philip has said, it should be worth the wait for a little cameo appearance.

There is a release date of 16 February 2009 for the DVD at the moment so whether it will be appearing on DVD first and T.V. later is anyones guess.
