  • Witness James Wiltshire (Annie Chapman)

Can anyone help me place the witness James Wiltshire in a family, or home location? Believe that he may be a member of my family, but am unable to confirm this without further information about him.
His occupation is given as a milkman in the employ of the Dairy Supply Company, Museum Street, Bloomsbury - but did he live in the Whitechapel area? (My family did) I don't immediately locate a milkman in my ancestors, but I have to say that some of them seemed to change their employment with the change in the wind!!
    Thanks

    Hi Elena

I was holding back in replying to your question in case someone could answer your query.

I was also holding back as I`m going off memory!!
I`m sure I found James Wilthshire in the 1891 Census and he was then living nearer the milk depot in Bloomsbury than Whitechapel.

If I was you I`d check out the 1891 census (and 1881) or you could have a look under letter "W" here:

You may need to be a member to see that link.

Thank you Jon - allbeit rather a delayed 'thank you' - I'm afraid that I have had to deal with some rather more important matters and this has been shoved to one side!
I will have a look at the census' for the Bloomsbury area rather than Whitechapel and see what I can come up with.
