Exactly, and that is why I don't mean to make her out to be a complete liar, but rather confused with her timings and more talked herself into believing that if anything had happened, she would have heard it.

Despite all the huffing and puffing to the contrary in the past, the fact is that she stated that she was standing at her door almost the whole time between 12.30 and 1 AM - and yet, she made no mention of: PC Smith, Morris Eagle, James Brown, Israel Schwartz, BS Man, Pipeman or Liz Stride......just Leon Goldstein. That is despite her own certainty that she would have seen anyone or anything suspicious if it had taken place.

You just cannot possibly call a witness "credible" if she misses 7 out of at least 8 people that were in the street during that time period. Even if you go with the theorists that come up with the idea of "well she was only there for 10 minutes, really", or that Schwartz was telling porky pies, she STILL missed people.....so surely Schwartz's testimony must take precedence over hers.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

      I disagree Adam....

Someone backed up her story of being at the door at some point.....

      No one backed up Schwartz....

Regardless of the details of times and who saw what.....it's fair to say she is more credible in terms of being there at the scene at some point.....

In terms of the time....it would be more suprising if she had gotten the time right....difficult to judge......

She heard a heavy measured tramp go past and the cart fella....that would suggest 20-25 minutes....assuming the measured tramp was PC Smith and he had his time right which is open to debate considering PC Smith wasn't on the scene at 1 which he claimed.....I'd say she was at the door around 12.45-1.

Mrs. Mortimer lived just two doors away from the IWMEC.....she should - MUST - have seen anybody who passed along the street or entered the IWMEC/Dutfield's Yard during the time she claimed to be there - she herself said as much - yet she clearly did not.

Schwartz has no reason to lie. He has no reason to come forward and make something like that up. Why place yourself in that danger?

On the other hand, what reason does Mrs. Mortimer have for standing at her door for half an hour in the middle of a cold, wet, dreary night, just staring out into the street, watching everyone and everything intently?

To me, what seems more likely is that she was wandering about the house doing a bit of cleaning or tidying up and preparing for the next day, and was just taking occasional peeps outside her door to see what was happening as she did so, and it was during one of these times that she saw Leon Goldstein.....

        Cheers,
        Adam.

Same could be said about Packer. Why did he lie? Why did Hutchinson maybe lie? Why did alot of witnesses lie?

Like FM said, PC smith probably seen Stride at 12.40-12.45 as he did not come back at Berner Street at 1am.

Schwartz event time is therefore narrowed. No-one hears Schwartz's commotion or sees Schwartz at all, despite numerous witnesses in the area including houses. Schwartz runs past his house which is strange. Also no dirt was found on Stride's knees, backside or hands where she might have if pushed to the ground by BS man.

          Its all rather odd.

BTW I don't think Mrs Mortimer said she stayed for the full half hour between 12.30-1am, she stayed out probably between 12.47-12.57 give or take.

And yes Mrs. Mortimer is more credible, not only did Stein confirm this when he brought himself forward but also Brown possibly ID'ed the couple sround the that Mortimer said she spoke to when the body was found.

So Mortimer has 1, possibly 2 confirmations. While Schwartz has a big fat 0.
