Does anyone know what kind of studs he's refering to, from a man's shirt or something else?

The day after the Eddowes murder, George Morris was interviewed by the press, adding some small titbits of information omitted from his original statement:

"I saw the doctor pick up two studs out of the pool of blood and put them in the shell."

I believe they were referred to as cufflinks in one report Normy, and they also may be shirt studs, which were used for buttons on some clothing of the period. In any case, they werent Kates.

If cufflinks, would this imply a fairly well dressed chap, not down at heel?
If shirt studs, could be any quality of dress?

Do we only have Morris's word for there being studs/cufflinks being found within the vicinity of Eddowes' corpse?

I don't meant to be negative but it doesn't hurt to be skeptical.

Inspector Collard, in his report, refers to a Sergeant Jones retrieving some buttons from the vicinity of Eddowes body. This was most likely during the bodys removal from the scene.

The most logical explanations is that they either came of Eddowes coat during her attack or part of her possessions which were lost in the assault.

These items were obviously misreported as 'studs' etc (though buttons were referred to as studs) in newspaper.

However, they were officially recorded.

Not a police Segeant who, I assume would be recognisable in uniform.

Morris stated, at inquest, that he returned to the Warehouse once he had return with Holland and Harvey, and remined there. So its questionable if he was present when Jones made his find.

I suspect it was another press amalgamation of fact and fiction or Morris was 'bigging' up his part in the saga.
