    Witnesses under oath?

Does anybody know whether the witnesses at an inquest testified under oath?

What would the consequences of a false testimony have been?

Yes they do and if they are caught lying it is perjury just like in a trial.

Some of the Jewish atheist witnesses at the Stride inquest affirmed instead of swearing on a book, but I imagine the same penalties for perjury would apply.

Yes it was the same then as now that if you were a Non-Christian you could take another oath or affirmation.
