Wool and silk, being protein based fibers, burn badly and with quite a bit of rather foul smelling smoke. Wool is actually somewhat fire-resistant because if you take the ignition source away it will tend to extinguish rather than continue to burn. Cotton and linen burn much better but still will tend to extinguish a fire rather than fuel it if dumped on top in large quantities. The velvet jacket and bonnet were likely made from silk, especially the bonnet. There is a possibility that the velvet was wool rather than silk, but silk would have been more typical.

In any case, the shirts and petticoat were likely cotton or linen, the crepe bonnet was likely silk over straw, the grey shawl was likely wool, and the black coat is neither here nor there because it survived and wasn't burned.

What makes me wonder about Harvey, the clothes and the laundry, and also possibly the pawn tickets Eddies had is that the torso killer required clothes to parcel up the body parts for dumping. Some were the victims clothes (like Jackson's Lizzie Fisher underwear) but others like the coat used in whitehall don't seem like items that would be disposable. And if they belonged to the killer he was taking a huge risk dumping a victim in clothes that could be traced back to him. So it seems he might have had access to a supply of disposal clothes?

He loved taking huge risks. That was part of his motive.

Forget your own thinking. And "logic" and "common sense". You have to think like the killer.

Dumping a victim in the killers own clothes wouldn't be taking a risk, it would be stupid.

I believe a velvet jacket , and Bonnet[ which belonged to Maria Harvey] was burnt in the grate, these items were worn by Kelly on the evening of the 8th, .
It is possible that the killer was with her, during that time, and burnt these items , so that they could not be identified, and possibly lead to the killers identity..
''I remember a woman wearing those, with a man who looked like?'' for instance,
