To "abduct" has a specific medical/anatomical meaning, BB, and it refers to a limb that has been displaced away from the centre of the body - the verb refers to the act of displacing a limb in such a manner. It doesn't mean "to remove".

To clarify still further, imagine a child miming a swing-wing aircraft - in doing so, they are "abducting" their arms.
