does anyone have any pics of the east end street prostutes of the time??

If there aren't any in the photo archive ( listing in bold black on the left side), you could always try sources that may have photos of some of them, starting with a library, a good one would be in London. I used to have an old paper clipping of some which may have been unfortunates in Flower & dean Street, known as the wicked quarter mile.
What i found was interesting was the state of the children in the east end, you really knew how poor and unfortunate a life that these people lived ' Shockingly' !. You could also try & browse the internet, you might be surprised at what you find, if you find some good material then you could always either post it here or send into the ones that run the web and see if they see it worthy of appearance. Hope this helps.

It's a fair bet that any random photograph of the residents of an East End slum might contain at least some "unfortunates", or casual street prostitutes. Many poverty-class women of the slums of London could have resorted to casual prostitution at one time or another.

the state of the street children were horrific, no wonder they turned to crime. it was definatley a viciouse circle. i also think the pictures available of the lodging houses are a good way of showing just how sqalid the living conditions were for these people. i did have alook in my library and on the interenet but all i could find were drawings of prostitutes for the papers.

There were hundreds of photos of women in porn poses going back to the 1870s - very explicit stuff. The photos were mostly taken on the continent so you never know, our Marie Jeanette may have said 'cheese' on occasion during her visit to Paris.

i have seen a book of victorian pornography when i was last in Borders, but i regretfully did'nt buy it. but most of the 'ladies' in them did'nt look english, more parisian.
i have also come across a similar photograph to the catherine reed pic on the web, but this one has three weomen in it. and one of them did look around mid to late twenties, and similar shape face to the crime scene photograph of mary kelly, squarish. i know the chances of it been her were pretty slim, but there is a possability that she could have been picked up by the police for soliciting, and given them an alias. like catherine eddows using 'mary' on the night of her death.
anyway i will try and hunt down the pic and post it.
