Can anyone fill me in on when (times / dates) Mary Kelly was supposed to have lived in France with her 'gentleman' friend?

In fact, I don't think anyone can answer this question for you. There is no known evidence, and MJK may well have made up the entire episode. In fiction, several authors have come up with intriguing suggestions, especially this one.

If the various dubious and diverse accounts of Kelly's life are believed, then she could have been in France for an indeterminate, but apparently brief, period anywhere between 1882¹ and 1885.


¹ According to an account in the Star, "there is little doubt" that Kelly arrived in London from Cardiff "some 5 or 6 years ago" [i.e. 1882/1883]. Caveat lector

Kelly & the McCarthy's?

Ok, some years ago a suggestion was aired about Mary Kelly's mother being 'possibly' a McCarthy. I can't remember where this came from.
Some resident geneologists could step in here and confirm or condemn this.

Kelly's landlord, John McCarthy was only one of a very large McCarthy family resident at No. 27 Dorset St.
The 1891 census records:
John McCarthy, age 42?, General Shop Keeper, born: Spitalfields.
Wife Mary, age 32?, son George?, age 16?
Daniel McCarthy, age 27?, Grocer, born: Southwark.
Wife Ann, age 23?
John MCCarthy, age 42?, Grocer, born: Dieppe, France.
Wife Elizabeth age 38? born: Shoreditch
Daug. Margaret, age 18
Daug. Elizabeth, age 12?
Daug. Ann, age 6.
Daug. Kelly?, age 9 month.
Eliza Alder, Domestic, single.
Liza Alder, Domestic, widow.
Harry Hampton?, age 30, Printer. c/w Wife & son.

Quite the housefull, but who was this second John McCarthy born in Dieppe?

Has anyone published a geneological search on the McCarthy's?
