  • So what is going on in the head of the murderer 132 years ago today?

What was going on inside the head of the murderer on 1st September 1888? What was he doing? Panicking that he was going to get caught? Hanging around at the crime scene, glorifying or gloating over what he had done? or planning his next attack?

    What do people think?

    Best wishes,

    Tristan

He was probably just feeling content and happy with himself, easing off.

I wonder if he’d be saying “ha, they haven’t even named me yet!”

I can just imagine him in the crowd of on-lookers at the crime scene. I am sure if the police had starting nabbing a few likely looking chaps, they could well have caught him!

Trying to hear what the police are saying at the scene?

And carrying a parcel with a knife handle sticking out. Yes, something along those lines perhaps. Actually, though, I was asking, not telling.

Doing what would be obvious, staying away from policemen.

That would make him organised and against FBI profiler John E Douglas's view that he was a disorganised killer.

He might even be right to believe it still, 132 years later.

I think that on Sept 2nd 1888 in East London that there was one person who likely was taking delight with the fuss he has caused, and planning when he could go out and do it again. I think he was disturbed by Lechmere, otherwise we would have seen him leave that scene with internal organs too, and Im sure now that he has crossed the evil doer boundary, he wants to be able to finish what he starts next time.

Good point! I don't really know what I meant by 'likely looking' as he more that likely looked like anyone else standing in the crowd. I don't think there has ever been a serial killer who was anything more than ordinary!

Well I will assume JtR is a bright boy. Seeing how he has gotten away with murder, he may be casing the area looking for a good place to strike next that has multiple exits.
