    RJ,

Welcome to the wonderful world of AP Wolf. I'm sure you're waiting with bated breath for AP to make a wonderful new 'discovery' that you can claim for your own and get the praise. You might be in for a long wait.

    Yours truly,

    Tom Wescott

                Hugs to Nats and Suzi!

Well, Suzi, an interesting picture. But wasn't Schwartz supposed to be very 'Jewish looking'? I have often wondered what this meant - clothing, facial features or the style of the beard or all of it (was Abberline referring to Schwartz looking like an othodox Jew)?

                All the best

Blimus! Israel Schwartz was George Bernard Shaw?

When they said Schwartz was in the theatrical line, they weren't kidding
                  Kind regards, Sam Flynn

                      So RJ,

By saying that Stride "fits" the "victimology" of the Ripper, I presume you think Kelly was therefore NOT a victim of the Ripper?

That makes both you and Tom who have told me to 'shut up' tonight, Nats.
That makes for good and fair dialogue.
Don't tell me, let me guess?
You and Tom are working on a project together.
It is probably called 'We don't give a **** about the victims as long as we make a dollar'.

Actually, we were having a hard time coming up with a good title, but you're the real writer among us, so thanks for the awesome suggestion!

Why would I think that? Mary Kelly’s clothing, occupation, intoxication, and personal hygene put her a heck of a lot closer to Liz Stride than to, say, Isabella Fraser.

She’s something of an enigma, however, I’ll admit that.

What I don't accept is the frequently expressed notion that the Ripper 'settled' for killing old, drunken women and "hit the jackpot" (a disgusting phrase) when he stumbled upon "Mary Kelly." That trivializes the choices the Ripper made.

Someone this extreme does what he set out to do. If he wanted to shoot men in perriwigs in Old Bailey he would have done it. If he wanted to steal orphans in East Ham he would have done that.

I take him seriously. Killing 'old women' in the slums was his cognitive choice, not a convenient outlet for his 'lustmord.'

My belief, and I didn't formulate it casually, is that the victims’ socio-economic status was more important than their sexuality.

                              PS. Hello Natalie.

Well, it was probably both, RJ. Clearly he "set out" to kill and mutilate, but it's quite probable too that Eddowes, Chapman, Kelly et al provided the easiest and most readily available "outlet" for this.
