    Hi Observer,

    Please don't shoot the messenger.

Given your observations, the onus falls upon you to explain Warren's letter.

    Regards,

    Simon

      Hi M_W_R,

If that's the case I'm surprised you've kept it to yourself all this time.

      Regards,

      Simon

          Hi M_W_R,

If you know the source, why haven't you previously posted the letter?

          Regards,

            Hi Simon

Then it looks as if you're correct in stating that Warren was as dim as Toc H lamp, either that or Roy's explination is nearer the truth.

            Regards

                Hi Observer,

Perhaps Warren was hoping to receive a "get out of the sh*t" card by writing to Sir James Fraser.

Who knows? The whole scenario is such a load of old cobblers.

If you wrote it in a novel you'd get run out of Dodge.

                Regards,

                Simon

                  Hi M_W_R,

Perhaps, then, it is possible that you may be precognitive?

                    Hi Simon

                    Run out of Dodge indeed.

All I can say in my defense is my trust in the LVP police force blinkered me.

                    Regards

To be fair you played a good hand of poker there Simon. I was under the impression that another conspiracy theory was winging it's way under the radar.

                          Hi Observer,

                          You've got it absolutely spot-on.

125-years of trust in the probity of the LVP cops has blinkered us to the truth.

                          Regards,

                          Simon

                            Mepo 1/48

MEPO 1/48 is the Commissioner's Letters Book, it is not new, it has been used before (Sugden quotes it in 1994) and many have been through it since.

Thank you Simon, Mark and Stewart for the sourcing.

                              Very helpful.

I second that Monty. I had an idea that someone would have seen this document before. The question still remains though, namely, what was Warren thinking of when he wrote it? Seems to me that Mathews came up with, (or someone suggested to him) that the apron piece could have been deposited in Goulston Street by a hoaxer, he then quesdtions Warren about this. I think Roy Corduroy is spot on, I quote Roy

"Not at all. Just saying that Warren thinks to himself, well I did all that running around hither and yon that night, (as you said) but in reference to this specific inquiry from the higher-ups I best get something in writing from the City of London Police. Because the essential question being asked here is - was the City of London crime scene adequately secured? Why not let City state that in writing. To me. To forward on.

At work, I may know the answer to a question, but I will be required to back it up with documentation. Which nowadays is a piece of cake. Execute an electronic search and forward the relevant document or e-mail string"

                                Regards
