    James Blenkinsop?

Sounds like a made-up name to me. Could anyone really (outside of Agatha Christie`s novels) be called James Blenkinsop?

    C4

Apologies, seems they can. Ther's even a swedish one! And a castle.

      Hi C4

I know several families with the name of Blenkinsop. One of whom goes by the glorious name of Bobby Blenk.

      Regards

        Blenkinsop

        Hello Observer,

Strangely, the Swedish one is named Elisabet...

        Best wishes,

I still think it does not make sense, if the time was wrong as everyone thinks, this mystery person would have said to Blenkinsop, something like has there been a murder here?
          B. would have known that there was a murder by that POINT. This person was eithier trailing Eddowes or the Ripper it looks like to me IMHO.

            Hello all ,

I was just reading through some old press when i stumbled upon this ol chestnut !

A reporter gleaned some curious information from the Casual Ward Superintendent of Mile End, regarding Kate Eddowes, the Mitre-square victim. She was formerly well-known in the casual wards there, but had disappeared for a considerable time until the Friday preceding her murder. Asking the woman where she had been in the interval, the superintendent was met with the reply, that she had been in the country "hopping". "But," added the woman, "I have come back to earn the reward offered for the apprehension of the Whitechapel murderer. I think I know him." "Mind he doesn't murder you too" replied the superintendent jocularly. "Oh, no fear of that," was the remark made by Kate Eddowes as she left. Within four-and-twenty hours afterwards she was a mutilated corpse.
I wonder if Kate spun the same yarn to the police whilst in custody ?

            just a thought .

              inference

              Hello Krinoid.

"this mystery person would have said to Blenkinsop, something like has there been a murder here?"

Unlikely that Blenkingsop had witnessed the murder. Much more likely to have seen two people. The murder inference were better left to the tecs to figure out.

              Cheers.

I did not mean that he witnessed the murder, I was saying since he was in the area and if the time is later, he definetly would have known a murder took place, and he would haven been grilled by police as he was later. The time must be as reported.

Hello Krinoid. Thanks. How would he have known? That may not have happened until someone told him.

                  Cheers.
