  • Tumblety's London Arrest

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I haven't had much of a chance to get involved with the forum lately due to circumstances, I did have a few questions I wanted to ask about Tumblety's time in London.

    1. As we all know, Tumblety was arrested for "gross indecency" (homosexual offenses) with 4 other men in November 1888. However, in all the stuff I've read, I've never found any specific information regarding this arrest. Like: at what location was he arrested? Who were the other men he was arrested with? Was it in the West End or the East End? And (although some of us may be uncomfortable knowing about the specific details of the activities Tumblety engaged in) does anyone know what the specific circumstances that constituted Tumblety's arrest?

    2. Is it true Tumblety was formally charged with the Whitechapel murders before he fled to France and then back to the US? Or is this just another example of misinformation?

    3. Does anyone here think it possible or likely that Tumblety was aware (or, perhaps, even a client) of the infamous Cleveland Street male brothel that was exposed in 1889?
I won't make any deals. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed,de-briefed, or numbered!
