Francis Thompson as a suspect is a nonsense that shouldn't be engaged with. Thomas Cutbush just appears to have been a mentally disturbed individual who was unpredictable.

Neither are the man we are looking for. The man we are looking for is a Robert Napper type person. A reclusive loner who was extremely introverted but punctual, neat and tidy at work. Someone who was powerfully built. And yet for years poor Colin Stagg was paraded about as a killer of Rachel Nickel, just as Aaron Kosminski was by the Victorian Police.

I’d say that it’s difficult to give a precise profile of the killer SD but I’d say that Cutbush and Thompson are miles apart with Thompson being a non-starter. No known violence, no known motive, no real connection to Whitechapel except for seeing a building once and no one ever suspecting him of anything.

Cutbush’s family did say that he spent most of his time in his room studying anatomy and medical matters. He was a mentally disturbed, highly unpredictable person who callously pushed an old man down some stairs, attacked a servant girl and held a knife to her throat, tried to cut his mother’s throat and stabbed two women in the back and at least one police inspector appeared convinced of his guilt.
